Bill Lyons set out to undercut his competition by making cars that were about as good for a lot less money. This meant that issues such as fuel economy took a back seat to the grace, pace and space. Fortunately, some of the money-saving measures are so obvious they are easily rectified.
The cooling system has quite a significant effect on the performance of a car. It adds weight, typically at the front, where it damages weight distribution, causes increased drag and unnecessary noise, saps power from the engine, and may delay warm-up.
