This year’s Mille Miglia (MM) started out from Brescia in Northern Italy on 11 June, heading for the first overnight stop in Turin in 76 years. It is perhaps the most memorable of historic races and originally ran from 1927 to 1957, hence the rule that cars manufactured after 1957 cannot participate. The ‘1000 mile’ race – 1600km – was, in fact, 2100km (1312 miles) this year, taking five days.
