THE GREAT ESTATE

With production of the Sportbrake at an end, Paul Walton compares the two generations of this still popular and practical model

There are many ways to describe Jaguars – words like beautiful, fast and elegant spring to mind. Only a small handful, though, can also be considered as practical and two of these are the pair of XF Sportbrakes featured here. With their handsome lines and perfect proportions, they’re clearly still Jaguars but with the added advantage of generously sized carrying capacity, resulting in a highly desirable combination. I should know – I’ve owned the Rhodium Silver example of the first generation since 2020. Thanks to its practicability, comfortable interior and good performance, it remains the best car I’ve ever owned.
