JAGUARS OF THE FUTURE

Quite a few of our members have commented on our September front cover, showing an artist’s impression of what the next generation of electric Jaguars might look like. Most of the response has been on our Facebook page, however, reader David Woolley wrote in with the following observations regarding the three models featured:

“The sports car could be good but we’d need to see more detail, whereas not even Jaguar could make an SUV look stylish! As for the limousine [September cover], Jaguar used to be noted for style as well as ‘grace, pace and space’ – this slab-sided monstrosity is a nod to featureless modernism taken to extreme. Add that to the ugliest front on the market, only competed for by Rolls-Royce.

“I hope they do not intend to sell it abroad as an icon of British style. I note that you have put a very beautiful XK120 [Bonhams advertisement] on the opposing page!

“Great magazine, thanks.” David

I would be interested to hear from other members as to what they think of these concept ideas. If the press reports are to be believed, we should see something concrete (if that’s the word) this month. As I said last month, these images are the imaginings of Autocar’s talented Ben Summerell- Youde, who kindly allowed us to reproduce them, but until we see the real thing, we won’t know for sure what’s in store. Let me have your comments – however rude! We’d love to share them.
