The regular classic car auctions of Newcastle-based WB & Sons usually provide an interesting mix of Jaguars, with the final sale of 2024 – which took place on 7 December – proving to be no exception. Of particular interest were the two saloons shown here, representing the extremes of post-Series XJ options. Offered with no reserve was a downat- heel 1991 XJ6, showing 64,000 miles on its odometer and coming complete with its original book pack and part service history.
That, however, is where the good news ended, as this was a poorly presented example of an XJ40, with obvious rust issues and no doubt a long list of mechanical requirements, having not been MoT’d since 2017. Nevertheless, someone might have had a bargain at the final sale price of just £290.
