April 2025 | Issue 777 | Page(s) 3 | Gaynor Cauter

I have an unwritten rule that the one thing I never open this page with is mention of the weather… but how can I not, when we’ve been bathed in warm sunshine (here in Herefordshire, at least) for what seems like weeks. And even though it was snowing not far away on Cheltenham racecourse, it was beautiful here and it made me wonder whether this year, at last, we will have better luck with the elements.

We need it because our calendar is bursting at the seams, with more events than ever, although our first one in April – Jaguar Spares Day on Sunday 13th – will be under cover at Stoneleigh. You will find details in the full-page ad here in the magazine and it’s still only £10 admission, so please support it – the Club doesn’t run it to make a profit but as a service to our members and the greater Jaguar community, and as long as you keep coming, we will carry on organising it.

Next up in April are two events that will certainly require good weather, starting with the Jaguar Breakfast Club meeting at Gaydon on the 19th – Easter Saturday. This will be the last JBC meet at the British Motor Museum until the autumn, although there are plenty of dates elsewhere around the UK. The other event requiring a bit of sunshine is national Drive It Day on Sunday 27 April when I know most of our Areas have something planned. And talking of things being out on the road, lots of you will have seen photos in the press and on Facebook of the new Jaguar, wrapped in camouflage, out on test. Even more sensational was the appearance of the blue Type 00 concept at Paris Fashion Week – we have some photos, with the inevitable celeb thrown in – on our Factory Floor page.

This month our new technical feature, Rob’s Workshop, gives you a step-bystep guide to a whole range of jobs. Rob Hawkins is also on hand to tackle any problems you might have, particularly with modern Jaguars – just email rob.hawkins@ jaguardriver.co.uk or call Head Office on 0044 (0)1582 419334.

Please don’t forget that our AGM is at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, on Saturday 26 April and we are expecting Ken McConomy, Global Head of PR JLR, to be joining us. It’s your chance to meet him, the people who run the JDC on your behalf and to air your views. And don’t forget to let Liz at Head Office know you are coming – email and phone details below.

Finally, Mark Brierley sent me this photo of the magnificent ‘virtual’ cake he has ‘baked’ to celebrate nine years of the Jaguar Breakfast Club – so happy birthday JBC!
