Dayton, Ohio, played a significant part in the development of the road vehicle and the computer. This town was the home of National Cash Register, from which two employees, who knew one another, would emerge to make far-reaching changes. One of them was Thomas J. Watson, who would found IBM. The other was Charles F. Kettering, who would bring electricity to the fledgling car industry.
