During the years when Jaguar Cars was under the British Leyland (BL) banner the brand suffered. The parent company regarded the famous marque as simply a cash-cow to prop up the failing BL line-up of poor-quality models. They did not invest in Jaguar and by the time BL (by then Leyland Cars) was broken up, the damage had been done.1 Seen on the banking at MIRA this pre-production XK8 was shown at the Geneva Motor Show and introduced the model to a world audience
