The sun our planet goes around is a star and without its radiation there would be no life on Earth. The Universe, however, is pretty big. It contains innumerable stars, many of which must have planets. Yet as far as we know, out of the fantastic number of planets out there, only this one supports life. As life has evolved here, statistically speaking, it could have emerged elsewhere, but we are not aware of any.
