I can’t believe it’s all over! It seems like, just weeks ago, we were all running around like decapitated poultry, clutching endless lists of things to do/people to contact/items to check/signs to order/queries to deal with/seating plans to arrange, and now here we are talking about Brooklands in the past tense.
For those of you who managed to join us – some driving from as far afield as Alicante, Aberdeen, Switzerland and Austria – I hope you will agree that it was a very special weekend, made doubly special by the amazing and very international turnout. For those of you who, for whatever reason, couldn’t make it, we will have a full report in next month’s magazine.
But having said it’s all over, of course, it isn’t because the show season rolls on and assuming you are reading this on or around the first of the month, there is still time to book a place at the JDHT’s Cheshire Cats day at Oulton Park, but be quick – booking closes at 12:00 noon on Thursday 6 August. The JDC has a large members’ parking area reserved for what promises to be an excellent Jaguar day, with historic racing and plenty to entertain you. JDHT is bringing some of its very special cars, including (rumour has it) one outstanding display, there will be a live stage, an anniversary parade at the end of the day, and the whole event will be supported by JLR (who knows what they will bring?).
It seems rather early to be talking about the Lancaster Classic Motor Show at the NEC on 13-15 November but the discount code is now available to use and every booking made through our JDC code counts towards us in brownie points, so please see the ad here in the magazine.
Finally, living in a long, thin country like the UK has its challenges when it comes to organising events, so if you live up north and felt Brooklands was too much of a stretch for you and your Jaguar, I have some good news because we will be heading up your way next year. Chairman Tony and the team are actively looking at a variety of venues in the north of England for next year’s National Day and would welcome any suggestions you might have. So if you know of somewhere interesting to host our big day and/or a hotel with at least 50 rooms and the capacity to stage a dinner for more than 130 guests, drop Tony a line at tony.merrygold@jaguardriver.co.uk.
