4-HILLS AND SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER REVEALED

09 October 2024 | Club News

The final round of this year’s JDC 4-Hills and Sprint Championship took place at Anglesey’s Ty-Croes circuit – a magnificent track set against the backdrop of the Irish Sea.

Overnight rain had made the going damp and greasy, sending a number of cars onto the green stuff although, luckily, none of our JDC contestants succumbed. In between a series of Red Flags in the morning practice session, the drivers managed to get a feel for the track before breaking for lunch. In the afternoon session, the JDC contingent was down to three when Steve Woods had clutch problems with his Ford Escort Cosworth, leaving Adrian Evans in the 1600cc Mallock Mk18BW, David Rodgers in his 5.0-litre supercharged AWD F-Type Jaguar and Anthony Taylor in the 5.7-litre McLaren M1B. Phil Taylor was due to compete in his Aristocat C-Type replica but went down with Covid a few days prior to the meeting.

Fastest man on the day – and not for the first time – was Adrian Evans, who managed a best time of 100.86, ahead of David Rodgers in second with 101.98 and Anthony Taylor third in the McLaren with 111.78.

Trophies for this year’s winners will be awarded at a special Presentation Dinner and the next year’s fixture list will be published in Jaguar Driver magazine soon. And don’t forget that you don’t need to have a Jaguar to join the 4-Hills Championship – as long as you are a signed-up member of the Jaguar Drivers’ Club, you are welcome to take part in one of the safest, most affordable and fun ways of getting out on track.
