JDC unveils revamped Concours for 2025

10 January 2025 | Club News

In an exciting development for classic car enthusiasts, Gareth Jones, the newly appointed Director of Concours for the Jaguar Drivers’ Club (JDC), has announced a major overhaul of the club’s prestigious competition.

Aimed at boosting inclusivity and engagement, the new-look concours will welcome all Jaguar and Daimler models and feature innovative updates designed to enhance the experience for competitors and spectators alike.

The journey toward reimagining the concours began in December last year, when a newly formed working group convened at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon. The nine-member team boasts extensive expertise across Jaguar and Daimler’s storied histories. Their mission: to attract more participants, increase satisfaction for competitors, and secure the event’s future success.

The first event under this revamped structure will take place at JDC National Day on August 3 at Whittlebury Park, near Silverstone. The restructured competition introduces a two-tier format:

Entry-Level Concours – A welcoming category for first-time competitors open to all Club members. There are no restrictions on model or age, and vehicles will be judged using criteria similar to the existing Bronze Level. Sponsorship discussions for this category are ongoing, with further updates expected soon.

Premier Concours – A significant shift sees cars competing in seven period-based categories rather than traditional model-specific registers. This format encourages competition among different models produced in the same era. Category winners will have the chance to qualify for the Champion of Champions event, to be held at the Jaguar Collections Centre in Gaydon during the JDHT’s Jaguars at Gaydon showcase in September.

Further refinements include an updated judging process and new category definitions, with full details to be unveiled in upcoming editions of Jaguar Driver magazine. In a nod to the competition’s fresh start, a new concours logo will also be introduced soon.

According to Jones, these changes aim to foster a more inclusive and dynamic concours culture that appeals to a wider range of members and vehicles. “This is about creating a competition that reflects the diversity and passion of our community,” he explained.

With bold innovations and a renewed focus on accessibility, the 2025 JDC concours season promises to bring fresh energy and excitement to one of the automotive world’s most cherished traditions. Watch for further updates and booking details in future editions of Jaguar Driver.
