Winner of JDC's Champion of Champions revealed

A stunning 2006 Jaguar XJR X350 saloon owned by Andy Brookes won the coveted title of Champion of Champions in the Jaguar Drivers’ Club’s annual concours competition. The final judging took place at the British Motor Museum as part of the Jaguars at Gaydon celebration.

First registered in December 2006, Andy’s Lunar Grey 4.2 V8 supercharged model was a factory demonstrator with many of the optional extras including ruched soft grain Ivory leather seats.

Andy purchased the car in 2010, sold it in 2013 and then bought it back again soon after. He sold it again in 2014, but it returned to his ownership in 2020. Over the following three years, he spent over 700 hours restoring the XJR to its current standard.

Presented with the award by JDC President, Sir John Egan, Andy will bring the car to the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show where it will be displayed in hall 1.

Andy fought off strong competition from the other finalists. They were JDC Vice Chairman Bryan Mander’s 1967 Mark II, Martin Green’s 1958 XK105S, Neville Hamilton’s 1950 Mark V 3.5l saloon, and James Thetherton’s 1996 XJS Convertible.

It was James’ XJS than won the Endeavour Trophy, presented to the owner that has undertaken all the work on the car that they possibly could but not quite accumulated enough points from the judges for an overall win.

Gareth Jones, the Jaguar Drivers' Club’s Director of Concours said: “Thank you to all the finalists for bringing their stunning cars and to my fellow judges for making the really tough choice on the day.”

The Champion of Champions has been taking place for 48 years, and this year’s winner is the latest in a long line of illustrious cars to take the title. For more information about the Champion of Champions, click here
