With show season drawing to a close, the Jaguar Drivers’ Club (JDC) team is gearing up for a grand finale at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show. Taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from November 8-10, this year’s event celebrates its 40th anniversary, promising Jaguar enthusiasts an exceptional display in Hall 1 that showcases some of the brand’s most iconic and historic vehicles.
Highlights at the JDC Stand
Curated by Bryan Mander, JDC’s Commercial Director, this year’s display aligns with the show’s 'Hall of Fame' theme, presenting a collection of historically significant and show-stopping Jaguars. Among the stars is the very first production Jaguar E-Type Series 1 OTS, famously driven to the 1961 Geneva Motor Show by Jaguar Test Engineer Norman Dewis. This car, now the oldest surviving open E-Type and on loan from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT), made headlines for its dramatic 17-hour overnight journey from Coventry to Geneva, setting the tone for Jaguar’s iconic status in automotive history.
Another highlight on display is a rare 1974 Series 3 V12 OTS, the last E-Type ever built. Registered in 1975, this car, now also part of the JDHT collection, was one of just fifty final-run models and features a commemorative plaque signed by Sir William Lyons, Jaguar’s founder.
The third JDHT vehicle on loan is the XJR-5 Group 44 racing car, an emblem of Jaguar’s motorsport legacy. With its white and green livery, the car debuted in 1984 and was pivotal in reestablishing Jaguar’s racing reputation, leading the way for the XJR-9’s Le Mans victory in 1988.
Also joining the JDC’s impressive lineup is Nigel Webb’s meticulous recreation of the 1955 Le Mans-winning D-Type, along with the recent Champion of Champions winner, the 2010 Jaguar XKR 75, owned by Richard Arnold, and 4-Hills & Sprint racer David Rodgers and his 2017 F-Type 5.0-litre 550bhp Supercharges AWD.
With a full merchandise shop and seating area, the JDC stand promises an immersive Jaguar experience for all attendees.
Where to Find the JDC Stand
Hall 1 of the NEC is the main home for the JDC stand. Once inside Hall 1, turn left down the first aisle and head toward the far corner, where the JDC team will be ready to welcome you.
Jaguars to Watch Out for Around the NEC
In addition to the JDC stand, there are many other Jaguars spread throughout the NEC halls. Some notable entries include Russ Swift’s 1937 SS Jaguar 100, a finalist in the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership competition, and a fan-favorite from the JDC’s National Day. Swift’s car is among the top 20 finalists, selected from a pool of around 100 entrants, with the ultimate winner chosen by visitor votes. Be sure to catch the winner announcement at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Hall 3.
We have two JDC cars in the prestigious Meguiar's Club Showcase - James Tetherton’s 1996 XJS Celebration Convertible, one of our Chapion of Champions finalists, and Tim de la Fosse's 1950 XK120, winner of this year's Endeavour Trophy. With only 14 finalists, these cars and their owners will face intense scrutiny from expert judges as they determine the best of the best in club cars. The winner will be revealed at 12 noon on Sunday in Hall 1.
Hunting for Jaguar Parts, Memorabilia, or a New Ride?
The NEC Classic Motor Show is a treasure trove for car enthusiasts in search of parts, memorabilia, or even a new vehicle. Over 350 traders, including top Jaguar and Daimler dealers, will set up shop, making it the UK’s largest indoor autojumble. Whether you’re hunting for rare spares or simply exploring the market, there’s something for everyone.
If you’re eyeing a collectible, stop by the Iconic Auctioneers’ two-day sale, where Jaguar lots will include a unique 1977 XJC-R Restomod by Tom Lenthall Ltd. This car will be auctioned with no reserve, with proceeds going to the RNLI in memory of Tom’s friend, Emma, who passed away in 2023 from cancer.
Another highlight is a beautifully restored 1953 Jaguar XK120 Coupé in Opalescent Silver Blue, estimated to sell for £60,000-£70,000. Both cars will be up for bidding on Saturday, and more information is available on the Iconic Auctioneers’ website.
