This reinterpretation of the iconic Jaguar, developed by his design firm Callum Designs, blends the classic allure of the E-Type with contemporary design elements, offering a fresh perspective on a timeless classic.
The Callum E-Type concept retains the essence of the original’s design while introducing subtle yet impactful modifications. The car sits lower and boasts a wider stance, complemented by pronounced wheel arches that house distinctive 19-inch aero-disc wheels. These wheels feature a modern three-spoke center motif, paying homage to the original’s knock-off hubs .
The exterior is characterised by a minimalist approach, with the removal of traditional chrome elements and bumpers. LED lighting replaces the classic units, and flush-mounted door handles contribute to the sleek profile. The front grille has been subtly revised, maintaining its iconic shape while integrating modern design cues .
Inside, the concept continues its theme of modern minimalism. The cabin features a mix of tactile controls and digital precision. Analog dials are paired with digital gauges, and physical toggle switches line the dashboard, offering a driver-focused experience. A standout feature is the machined metal shift knob, indicating a five-speed manual transmission .
While specific details about the powertrain remain undisclosed, the presence of dual exhaust pipes suggests a traditional internal combustion engine, possibly an inline-six or V12, aligning with the E-Type’s performance heritage .
Currently, the Callum E-Type exists as a concept within the firm’s “Portfolio” series, showcasing their design capabilities. However, Callum Designs has indicated that, for the right client and budget, this vision could be brought to life as a bespoke build.
Callum’s restomod E-Type is not merely a modernisation but a thoughtful evolution of a classic. By blending the original’s timeless design with contemporary elements, Callum offers a vision of what the E-Type might have become had it continued to evolve naturally over the decades. This concept stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of the E-Type and the creative possibilities that arise when tradition meets innovation.
