Jaguar’s forthcoming Type 01 has made its UK dynamic debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, giving British enthusiasts their clearest look yet at the production car that will follow the Type 00 concept revealed at the end of 2024.
Shown in public as one of only three appearances before its full reveal in October, the Type 01 was seen running on the famous Goodwood Hill in its lightest camouflage to date. The outing offered Festival visitors a better sense of the new grand tourer’s long bonnet, low roofline and dramatic fastback proportions.
For Jaguar followers, the appearance marks a significant step in the marque’s move into a new design era. While the Type 00 concept divided opinion when first unveiled online, the Type 01’s presence at Goodwood has placed the car in a more familiar setting: in motion, in front of an enthusiast audience, and alongside key models from Jaguar’s past.
That heritage link was made clear through a display bringing together the E-type, XJS and XJC under Jaguar’s ‘spirit of Jaguar’ theme. The E-type and XJS provide an obvious reference point for the Type 01’s sporting silhouette, while the XJC has played a more unexpected role in shaping the character of the new car.
According to Jaguar, the dynamics team led by Matt Becker looked closely at the XJC when defining the grand tourer’s driving feel. For club members familiar with Jaguar’s balance of comfort, refinement and pace, that reference gives the Type 01’s development a useful connection to the brand’s established road-car values.
The reaction around Jaguar’s new direction has also softened since the Type 00’s launch. Seen at Goodwood rather than solely through a digital reveal, the Type 01 appears less as a break from the past and more as an attempt to reinterpret some of Jaguar’s familiar proportions for a new generation.
Full technical details remain under wraps until the October reveal, but the Goodwood debut has given Jaguar drivers and marque enthusiasts an early opportunity to judge the car’s stance, scale and road presence for themselves.
