With most British and European XF buyers – particularly fleets – opting for diesel-engined and smaller-capacity V6 petrol versions, the mighty 4.2-litre (and later 5.0) V8s were largely overlooked, making them a fairly scarce offering today. This particular car – a 63,000-mile example finished in Liquid Silver – is currently for sale with Sussex-based Arun Ltd (www.arunltd.com).
First registered in April 2008, the XF V8 Premium Luxury features Ivory leather upholstery, burr walnut veneers and even the rare addition of a sliding glass sunroof. Factory-fitted equipment includes Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, automatic lights, electrically adjustable heated/cooled front seats with memory, a heated windscreen, heated power-fold mirrors, a rear view camera, theatre lighting and more.
Under the bonnet is Jaguar’s familiar V8 in 4.2-litre guise, which pushed out 293bhp when new. The end result was thrilling performance: top speed was limited to 155mph, while the 0-60mph sprint took just 6.2 seconds. Arun says the XF is ULEZ-compliant in this spec, though the bad news is the cost of Vehicle Excise Duty – which, according to Parkers.co.uk, is now a hefty £735 per year.
This particular car comes with its original Jaguar Service Portfolio showing three main dealer service stamps followed by independent garage services and invoices for repairs. The car will be supplied freshly serviced and with a new MoT, together with a three-month warranty that can be extended at additional cost.
Codenamed X250, the Ian Callum-designed XF made its official debut in autumn 2007, inheriting much of the S-Type’s platform and running gear but bringing Jaguar’s styling bang up to date. Customer deliveries didn’t begin until March 2008, making this V8-engined survivor a particularly early example of its type. The original XF gave way to the second-generation range in 2015.
