Used Jaguars see online surge

10 December 2024 | Market News

Auto Trader has revealed an increase in online searches for used Jaguars since JLR announced the storied marque’s reboot, which initially kicked off with controversial new logos and a car-free advertising campaign and was soon followed by the debut of the Type 00 Concept.

According to Auto Trader, searches for used Jaguars increased by 10 per cent at the peak of the relaunch publicity, appearing in consumers’ searches 29 million times and generating 1.3 million advert views in the process. The most popular Jaguar searched for online in November, says Auto Trader, was the F-Pace – which has also been Jaguar’s bestselling new car of recent years.

Erin Baker, editorial director of Auto Trader, commented ahead of the launch of the Jaguar 00 Concept in Miami on December 2nd: “A spike in consumer interest on Auto Trader shows drivers are keen to see what they can still get their hands on from the Jaguar they have always known.”

On the subject of Jaguar’s reinvention, meanwhile, Baker said: “I don't think anyone has a reliable view on how this will go once the first car is available to buy, but it’s a fantastically bold and creative reimagining of one of the UK’s most legendary marques.”

At the time of writing, Auto Trader has no new Jaguars listed on its website, following JLR’s decision to cease production of all UK-spec models. It does, however, have almost 7400 used examples for sale, including 665 registered in 2024 – some with delivery mileages.

Such pre-registered cars include a 74-reg XK Sportbrake D200 R-Dynamic HSE Black (finished in Elger Grey and with just 25 miles recorded), available from Duckworth Jaguar (www.duckworth.co.uk) at £39,995. And there are several 74-reg examples of the E-Pace SUV, including a plug-in hybrid P270e R-Dynamic SE Black – a white example that’s covered just 20 miles and which can be yours for £45,496 via Vertu (www.vertumotors.com).

Fans of Jaguar’s entry-level saloon – the handsome XE – still have a few hardly-used cars to choose from on Auto Trader, including a 36-mile D200 MHEV R-Dynamic S Auto. Registered on ‘74’ plates and looking good in white, it’s currently  available from Edinburgh-based Pentland Jaguar (www.john-clark.co.uk/jaguar) at £36,299.

Other 2024-registered Jaguars listed on Auto Trader at the time of writing include 37 F-Pace and 89 examples of the all-electric I-Pace, some with delivery mileages.
