With Jaguar currently leading both the Team’s and Driver’s Championships, the GEN4 car will have some shoes to fill when it takes to the grid for the next season of
Formula E.
Ian James, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, said: “We’re excited to unveil the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE as we continue our preparations for this exciting new era of Formula E. Our unique testing livery not only reflects Jaguar TCS Racing’s time competing in Formula E, but the huge technological and performance evolution through ten years of racing.”
The new car is wrapped in a unique black and yellow test livery , giving it a decidedly stealth-like appearance. “Formula E is the perfect platform to enable Jaguar to be at the forefront of EV technology innovation, and GEN4 represents another step-change for the championship” notes James. “The raw speed of these all-electric cars is incredible,
and we cannot wait to showcase the Jaguar GEN4 proto_TYPE on track.”
GEN4 cars represent a significant improvement over the current generation of cars, with up to 815bhp and permanent all-wheel drive, meaning an insane 0-60mph
launch of just 1.8 seconds. In keeping with the Championship’s sustainability efforts, the new car is designed to be 100% reusable, while the amount of recycled content in the car is doubled to 20%.
Jack Lambert, Head of Technical Integration at Jaguar TCS Racing, said: “The GEN4 era represents a huge opportunity for Jaguar. As a manufacturer, we’re always learning through the development of our own competition powertrain – and the expanded manufacturer perimeter for GEN4 will enable us to remain at the forefront of innovating EV technology on-track for next generation of all-electric Jaguar road cars.”
Former F1 World Champion David Coulthard tested a GEN4 prototype at the recent Monaco round of the Formula E Championship and was blown away by the car’s abilities. “The most acceleration I've ever experienced around Monaco, and I've won here twice,” said Coulthard. “I'm speechless! What a machine!”
